You can make this recipe for your kids birthday party or for any ocassion. The texture of this whole wheat chocolate cake is soft and moist. In this recipe I have used oil and butter both but you can make with only butter(100 grams) as well. For the frosting I have made chocolate ganache you can serve the cake without the frosting as well. One more ingredient I have used in this recipe is fresh orange zest it gives nice flavour to the cake. If you want you can add chopped walnuts or almonds at the last while preparing the cake batter. This chocolate cake tastes delicious without the frosting and goes well with tea or coffee.

Do not skip any of the ingredients, you can substitute the ingredients for example in few cake recipes butter can be also be added in place of oil. You can make the same recipe using all purpose flour/maida also. Whole wheat cake batter requires a little more water or milk as compared to the flour ones So if you find the batter is thick add more milk/ water and adjust the consistency of the batter. RECIPE DETAILS:

Ingredients:

For Cake

  • 100 grams Whole Wheat flour
  • 20 grams cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 50 grams Butter
  • 50 grams Oil
  • 100 ml Milk
  • 200 grams Condensed milk

For Chocolate Ganache

  • 100 grams dark chocolate
  • 100 grams Amul Cream
  • 10 grams Butter

Method:

1. Grease a round baking cake tin of 8×8 inches diameter with oil or butter and preheat the oven at 180 degrees celcius.

2. In a bowl take softened butter, add sweetened condensed milk and oil to it and beat till it is light and fluffy.

3. Next for the dry ingredients seive whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and mix everything well.

4. Add the sifted dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.

5. Add orange zest, vanilla extract, milk and beat nicely to form a smooth lump free batter.

6. The batter should be smooth flowing consistency if its thick add little more milk and adjust the consistency.

7. Now pour the cake batter in greased tin and tap the sides.

8. Bake the chocolate cake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 25 minutes. Do check the cake after 20 minutes as the temperature vary from oven to oven.

9. Once done check the cake with a toothpick. If it comes out clean the cake is perfectly baked.

10. Let the cake cool down completely meanwhile make the chocolate ganache.

11. In a saucepan take amul cream and just bring it to boil.

12. Pour the cream over dark chocolate and leave it undisturbed for 10 minutes.

13. After 10 minutes add butter (room temperature) and mix untill smooth chocolate ganache is formed.

14. Once the cake has cooled down pour the chocolate ganache over the cake sprinkle some edible golden dust from top. The chocolate cake is ready cut in slices and Serve!
