Today’s recipe is Raksha Bandan special Coconut Burfi which is a very popular Indian sweet prepared with just two main ingredients – dessicated coconut and condensed milk. The same recipe can be made with grated fresh coconut, sugar and milk which is the basically the traditional method of making Coconut burfi.

Coconut Burfi is mostly made during festivals like holi, diwali, navaratri, raksha bandan, etc. It is a common yet so popular Indian sweet liked by all of us.

This recipe is simple, easy and has very few basic ingredients. Here in this recipe I have used readymade coconut powder which is easily available in the market. You can also take fresh coconut, grind it in a mixer grinder and then for the rest of the part follow the same procedure.

RECIPE DETAILS:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Coconut powder/ dessicated coconut
  • 1 cup condensed milk
  • 2tbsp ghee
  • 4-5 green cardamom
  • 8-10 pistachios for garnishing
  • Chandi ka varak (optional)

Method:

1. Heat ghee in a pan, add two cups of coconut powder and roast on low flame for 1-2 minutes.

2. Once the coconut powder is slightly roasted add a cup of condensed milk to it and mix it well.

3. After mixing well let the mixture cook for few minutes on low flame till its thickens.

4. You will notice the mixture will start leaving the sides of the pan at this stage add cardamon powder mix well and then switch off the flame.

5. Grease a square shape cake tin or a plate with some ghee and evenly spread the coconut burfi mixture with the help of a spatula. The top should be flat and smooth as it looks nice when you will cut the burfi in pieces.

6. Let the burfi set for an hour.

7. After an hour garnish the burfi with some chopped pistachios. You can also put silver varak Its completely optional.

8. Cut the burfi in desired shape and the Coconut Burfi is ready to Serve.
